Hi,

Question for Mexico arches (McLean Bros) owners.

Today I was looking at my sportspack arches on my original MPI sportspack because I'm planning to get some Mexico arches but it occured to me that the sportspack arches are fitted with nuts on the inside of the arch, plus my side repeater is curved to fit in the arch as well. Does this mean that if I'm gonna fit the mexico arches I'm gonna get holes at the places where the original sportspack arches were fitted or do they cover them ? Reason I'm asking this is that I'm planning to paint the mexico arches in the same colour as the rest of the bodywork but if there are gonna be holes that need to be filled the whole car will most likely need a repaint and that is not in my budget for now.

Kind regards

Hi ive got mexicos on mine and you will have to redrill holes on the side of the bodywork but you wont see them, i am not sure how sportpack arches are held on probably under the arch so you should be fine

you will need to redrill the holes, and then fill the old ones. The sportspack arches have studs at the very outer part of the arch.

Why would the whole car need painting if your filling in a few small holes? :errr:

aah bummer ! So the holes of the sportspack arches will be above the mexico arches and not hidden beneath them when installed ?

My mini is from 2000 and is tahiti blue and the paint is still in excellent condition, would be a pitty to paint it again no ? Or is it possible to install the mexico arches (unpainted) first, fill up the small holes and spray the mexico arches and a piece of the bodywork at the same time afterwards so I won't get colour difference ?

this is my problem as well but i made a rather nasty job of the metal under my sportspack arches to stop rubbing so i'll probs just replace both wings and start again

thats what i'm thinking so i'm probably going to have to replace both wings as the mexicos sit much lower

and what if you mount them just above the sportspack holes so they can't be seen ? Don't you get the same effect (wide and low and still arches filled) as the blue mini shown on their website then because it looks like that one is not fully wind down on the hi-lo's and the arches are mounted lower but still sits nice ?
