Hi! :shy:
Benny is a 1985 Mini City E, 998cc engine.
Over the last couple of days, (now that it's stopped raining!) i've noticed a water leak from underneath the front of the car, passenger side.
It is intermittent, & only seems to happen when i've stopped & turned engine off.
Initially, i only noticed the wet patch on the road... Today, i actually watched the water run out from underneath the front of the car. It runs for a wee while & then stops.
I looked underneath the car as it was happening, but couldn't make out where it was coming from.
I had checked radiator fill level this morning & no topping up was necessary.
I also checked radiator immediately after the leak, there was no obvious difference in fluid level.
However, i did notice that, even though the engine had just been running, & we'd been driving for 20 minuutes minimum, that there was no hiss or spit when i removed radiator cap...
My usual garage are going to run a pressure test on Benny tomorrow... The leak thing didn't happen when I drove him to the garage & turned the engine off, of course!
I just don't want them to think I'm a neurotic female mini owner...!
Any thoughts on this, please...? All gratefully received!
Mini regards, Rosie. :withstupid:

it could be coming from the water pump, try get ur hand behind the fan pulley and see if it feels wet along bottom of the water pump. will be a nice easy fix with a new pump if it is this

I think it is possibly only expansion due to heat soak when you turn the engine off, because the coolant level is higher than it needs to be. If so, it will stop when the level settles down. But it could be the water pump, and your pressure cap sounds as if it is leaky. The problem may go away with a new cap, as the system will retain higher pressure.

Thanks guys! :D
None of that sounds as serious as things get in my (worryguts) head...
Will get onto things forthwith!
Mini regards, Rosie.
