Bit peed off really. After working all hours and not getting any time on my mini, or to myself, I thought I'd steal a few minutes as its a nice evening to tinker.

My mini only goes out when I have time and it's dry, so perfect tonight. Warmed it up and thought I'd check timing, and twin carb balance and mixture as it was a little smokey last time I took it out. All went well, and took it for a drive down my road twice to find an angry woman jump out at me telling me I was keeping her daughter awake. Literally twice! Just to check it ran ok......

Now I feel really bad, as I used to hate it when others kept my kids awake when they were small, but it was only eight o'clock.

Just ignore the silly cow, some people just moan because they have nothing better to do, unless your mini is super loud your not going to be making anymore noise than she probably is inside anyway.
Keep tinkering :P

Humm there is a fine balance between what is acceptable and unacceptable especially when doing things like working on cars or even cutting lawn. On a nice summers evening there is so much opportunity to get a few of the weekend chores done.....

I assumed you apologised to her personally? Did she calm down afterwards?

I did apologise. She just turned around and told me the consider other people. Feel bad as I consider myself to be very considerate.

At least you apologised and didn't give her a load of abuse!

It's your car, enjoy it!

Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining!

You've just saved her other half from a minute or 2 of nagging

I had a winging neighbour when I had a loud-ish 3.0 V6 Vectra, I told him I'm sorry, I'll drive more gently when going out...

He moaned again, I just said "look, I've done my best and you keep moaning, it's not the middle of the night, and it's not the loudest car in the area, but I wish it was, it isn't BECAUSE I'm being considerate of you"

Tell her to put her kids to bed later. I hate people like that. Your car is legal, enjoy it.

I go out in our at about 5.45am sometimes. No complaints when its ticking over in the garage. Some people are just born to moan.

I'd feel exactly the same as you about this, kinda bad - dont like upsetting folk- kinda pizzed that they spoke to me like that ( that probably wouldnt hit till later)

I hate the thought of peeing people off and try to never do it, though I wouldn't even think of going outside to complain to someone about their car, young kids or not (unless a nightly boom boom road race kind of scenario)

I think people -some not all- are changing into right narks, its as though they think they have the right to moan and complain because they can, or maybe its a pathetic power trip. Either way a friendly chat instead of a narky point score would go alot further. Shrug it off, stay polite and dont let it get to you

I'm really starting to dislike folk

i was cleaning my mini once in my garden and a local kid started playing football on the garage next to mine, and the ball jumped the fence and hit my car. he came and asked if he could have his ball i said sure but go get your mam first. She stormed over and said whats up.so i explained and she shouts saying where else s he supose to play football. my simple reply was "a park"..or you own garage door .4 doors down and across the road, She walked of in a mood :| ..Thought to share a little funny story to make us smile
