Had my mini at a good garage to get the ball joints replaced, (wasnt up for it myself).

The car developed a n oil leak, which i thought must be from the gear linkage seal, the car had sat all winter.

I remember at my last MOT I was under the car and saw what i though was a bolt missing from the rear lower engine steady bracket. It did look a tad oily though.I totally disregarded this (stupidly) as I couldn't have dropped a bolt! I mean the bracket has never been touched.

Went to pick the car up today and was told i was indeed missing a bolt on the engine steady bracket.

Is that the right, can that case an oil leak?

If so you learn something new about these cars every day. :mmkay:

oh and god knows how the bolt has undone itself.

Are you sure it's not snapped off? Being a bolt holding a bracket, and subject to force on the engine rocking?

Wait it might a engine to front steady. I will need to check. Either way was definitely a bolt missing with oil coming from the hole.

No as they just replaced it with a new bolt, they said maybe the spring washer hadnt been fitted previously (this i cannot confirm).
