I have a set of mg metro turbo rocker's would i gain anything by fitting these to my 1275 cooper s mini engine?
Im still learning about the mini's so asking for abit of advice.
i am rebuilding my mini slowly in my spare time im staying A+ series but would like to do a few suttle modifications.
can any of you tell me if im going the right way?
so far i have bought 1275 cooper s spi engine and have bought the following.
lcb manifold
s/s exhuast system twin back box (used from last engine)
alloy heated manifold
piper Magnum 285 Cam
Hiff 44 3/4"
K&N filter
8mm silicon leads
lucas distributor 45D
i purchased some of these from tatton classic & sports car show second hand from mad house mini's last year and have only recently got round to fit them.
i just want to know if im doing the right thing and is there anymore i should fit before i build it all up cheers Jay

To which, there were 3 questions there by my count

So in order of appearence;
1) Not familiar with MG turbo rockers, but from research they've not been mentioned as ones to look out for so I'm err on the side of no you won't gain anything.
Early type rockers:

To my understanding are the best of the non high lift options, after that you are talking about £150 for the real deal.
2) I think you mean an HIF44 1 3/4" carb, but yes that will give you more headroom for upgrade although the cam might be a bit mental for a road car if the number is similar to a Kent. Again, just by what I've read on here. If you're pulling the engine down then it might be worth giving ML Motorsport a call, they can reprofile your cam into all kinds of fun shapes.
3) More power? Of course It's the right thing! After you've made sure your shell is solid, the bushes are frest, the suspension is working and the brakes are serviced

Going faster is always cool, but if bits fall off / car doesn't stop / wheels won't stay on the black stuff then you're in brown pants territory.
In terms of engine though, you've covered the basics. Dizzy wise I'm lead to believe the lucas 65DM4 is the one to go with but it should be modified for your engine.
The other thing you could look into is an earlier MG Metro cylinder head, the larger valve variety.
Good luck with the build!

the point of getting rockers with a bigger ratio of lift is so people didnt have to heave the engine out to get 'cam like' power. all the uprated rockers do is give you more valve lift. an ideal set up would be standard ratio roller rockers ( or standard if they have been serviced carefully) with an uprated cam as the cam gives the whole lift profile and valve overlap etc instead of just more lift.

Turbo Metties got the same sintered rockers as all A+ engines. The cam's nothing special either.
High lift rockers also offer faster valve opening and/or less ramp rate on the cam, as well as the opportunity to reduce the spring rate. The optimum set up will, grab advantages wherever it can find them.
