Well il explaine a little about the car first,
I have just bought a 1992 rover mini cooper Spi!
It's good wee car but it has it's flaws as all minis do.

The doors are very dodgy and seem to drop when opened so I need to replace the a panels.
The floor pans are pretty rotten on both drivers and passenger sides!
I have dreaded oversills so I'm not sure of the amount of damage underneath!
I'm gonna put a new front end on aswell

I have had a look at where the floor pan meets the sills but it seems to be a rubbery solid filling in the gaps :/ what would be my best bet?
Ive never welded before and I am on a budget :( I feel confident to weld front end myself but floor pan and sills are scaring me due to the putty like substance I've found? Could this be there to cover the previous welds? Cheers guys

you say the doors drop do you need to replace the A panels? maybe you mean the door hinge panel that the A panel flange is wrapped onto which is actually the part the door is fastened too... have you checked that all the bolts are tight? or prehaps the hinge itself on the door?

as for the floor pans depending on how bad they are you can get away with either plating them or putting in section repair panels,

the only real way to see the destruction below the oversills is to remove them and deal with accordingly,

also you say you are going to put on a new front end... how bad is your current front end as you want to fix the worst parts first no and id suggest doing the a panels along with the front end if you are going to do it.. you say you have little welding knowledge but would want to take on wellding the front end on? are you going to be spot welding it on... (even with a spot welder you will need some attachments to get into the tight gaps) and if Migging it, the angles and tight gaps can be fairly tricky!

maybe get a few pictures up etc?? if i was you i would probably take the oversills of for a start but be prepared for major problems under there!

P.S its not a green cooper is it? with FON on the plate? my m8 sold one a while ago with similar description?

Depending on where you are, there are some very good tradesmen on here that are good value for welding. I can personally recommend Andyagl, he comes to you and is a great welder. He did my entire floor front to back and new flitch panels. Give him a shout to get a price but his rates were very reasonable.
