Hi

Just noticed Accuspark have started selling their own rev limiters on Ebay for around £30. Just wanted to know if anyone on here has one fitted yet and if so what are your opinions? Most other rev limiters I have looked at are around £100 so what's the difference in quality going to be like in comparison?

With modern electronics being so well developed it should be OK. Main difference between it and the more expensive units is likely to be in the quality of the case.

What revs would this be set to for an MG 1275? Also are they easy enough to fit?

Looks remarkably easy to fit - no soldering or anything. Personally I would set it about 6-6500. I'm sure someone will say 8000 tho. It's up to you really and depends on the spec of the engine. How high do you feel safe revving it?

I will be using mine to stop the new engine from being over revved whilst I run it in. I'll probably set it to 4000 and then when i'm happy it has enough miles on it I will put it up to 7000.

Don't see the point in rev limiters unless, like the post above, it's just for running in purposes. The only problem I can see with that is that if there is a circumstance where you need to get out of the way quickly, you will be limited to 4000 revs rather than going a little higher for safety reasons

http://passionford.c...ev-limiter.html

Soft cut cuts the spark (or fuel) for a very short amount of time, revs generally stay where they are.

Hard cut cuts the spark (or fuel) for a longer amount of time, the car feels like its properly died and the revs drop noticably.
This is a last resort rev limiter that most people would never hit in their lives as soft cut limiters are set to work properly.

Hard cuts are generally set as an emergency higher RPM cut incase the soft cut doesnt have the required effect.

Anyone know the max RPM of a 1275 MG engine?
