Recently got ahold of a sealy Spot welder. Its Only been used 4 times but its been sat in a garage for years.
Ive used one many times before and never had a problem.
I re filed the electrodes as they were rather flat.
A few spot welds worked fine but now every spot weld i do blows through and it sticks. Ive tryed adjusting the electrodes as ud think i would so it isnt pinching too much and even loosened off soo much, that it wouldnt even weld. Then i tryed holding it on for less that didnt work. Seems like soon as the electrodes touch they stick. Is there away of setting the power or something or something im doing wrong i had to stop and try on other bits of metal and can only get 1 in 10 goes to get even close to working properly. :/ can anyone help?
Thanks
Mark.

I would think about the cross sectional area of the electrodes, have they been thinned down too much? Try filing them back and see if the bigger area sorts out your problem.

you need really clean bare metal surfaces. the good welders have a timer which u can adjust to avoid blowing through or holding on too long.

Yeh all the metal is clean on all sides. It not an electric one unfortunatly. Yeh i thought it was too narrow thats why i also filed them wider but its still happening. :/ ????

The ends of the electrodes aren't flat, they should have bevelled edges.

You can get proper electrode cutters for the job.

This can be found cheaper elsewhere though, I think I paid £25 for mine.
