The front wing will need to be cut to stop them from rubbing, and you'll probably need to fit new arches

No doubt someone will be along in a minute telling you about how bad they are etc ;D

when i went to a garage to ask about trimming the arch away for 13" they said it wouldn't be that big of a job and he said he probably charge me for 4 hours work (hour a wheel) so i thought i would leave it for now.

but people on here says its really easy just trim as much as you need to away leave a bit extra for the lip then bend the lip. to me it sounds easy but when you think about it seems pretty hard lol :D sure someone will tell you how to do it properly tho ;)

Nope, it's very easy. Even I can do it

As long as you have the correct tools  (Mind you that can be said about any job)

Very simple job, trim the arches with an angle grinder and roll the lip up. You will likely need new arches as well. I'm sure there are even templates to help you with the trimming.

Good luck and dont forget to treat the metal after you have cut it otherwise you will get a nasty surprise within a few months.

Another thing to note as well. Be sure to check the condition of all your suspension, front and back, I.e. worn ball joints, condition of cones and shocks, wheel bearings and radius arm pins. If any of these have play and or are worn, you're going to make them worse by fitting bigger wider wheels, if they are worn change them and they'll be fine.

But yeah fitting them is very easy, you can even try and find a sports pack arch template which shows you how much to trim off the arch, if you chose to fit sports pack arches.

if your son is teenage you might want to think about insurance

modified minis are harder and cost more to insure

Yeh I agree with this, when I checked mine with Adrian flux they said it goes up by £150 so... Just get 12x5 no work needed and get 165 tyres on there :)
