Looking like I'll have to take the mini off the road to do the required work, but before I do I wanted to drive it for a couple of weeks- I've passed my test and actually haven't driven it properly yet, I'm worried if I do pull it off the road then I won't have the motivation to actually get very far.

Does anyone have any experience with getting insurance for a week or two? I'm 17 so it probably won't be cheap but its worth a shot

I got a weeks worth when i went to pick up Paddy my clubman. I was with Admiral at the time and for me it was cheap. £17.59. Don't forget though this was with no no claims or anything like that. And it was fully comp but with no frills.

Have you already got any car insurance at all on another car as this will make a big difference as to whether they will entertain you or not. Plus i'm an old git as well. Its worth ringing around the classic car insurance folk to see if they will do it.

I think though with your age it will go against you so be prepared for lots of knock backs or very silly quotes. Good luck though.

Is there any way that you can be added to the current policy for 2 weeks? We added a friend on to ours and lent them our car while we went on holiday. So it can be done. Insurers do hate us 17 year olds though. I was 17 in November and still havn't driven mine, so I know how you feel.
