Due to a bit of luck and knowing the right people I can now keep my mini and restore it!

So, what I would like to know is if anybody knows how to make a mini spit? Is there any plans or pictures of ones anywhere?

Thanks!

http://minimikebc.tr...com/rotiss.html

I've spit roasted 2 mini's first we mounted as shown..going through the back window...2nd was a mark 2 and had a hole in the rear seat back, so we went through that hole and through the dash hole...

The 2nd way is better..mini turned a lot easier on the spit. balances better

There's loads of different ways I didn't follow any plans, just measured from the centre dash hole to the furthest outside edge to give me the height I needed.
Used scaffold tubes welded into 2 stands for either end, using scaffold fixings to mount the spit roast main tube on.

heres one made out of wood, with a metal center pole

The only problem with mine is it doesn't have the hole on the rear seat panel and I would line to avoid having to cut a hole. This there any other that have taken advantage of the suspension turrets in the boot?

I've seen them on ebay, but can't find now...
Only disadvantage with those is if you need to replace rear arches ...very rare seat back and bulk head need replacing..
A jigsaw would make a neat hole in the rear seat back, weld the removed section back in when finished..ground back nobody would know :)

I used the above link for sizes.

I used a hole cutter to cut hole in boot bulkhead, the standard carpenters hole cutter from a cheap set. The circle you cut out can then be rewelded into the same spot when you have finished.

Use a scaffold pole and screw plywood plates onto both bulkheads so the pole goes through the circles you make in the plywood plates (size of whole to suit scaffold tube) and the pole rubs only on the plywood when you spin the mini. I just propped the mini where I needed to work.

The only differnce between the photos above was I used solid ply to stiffen the timbers, not timber diagonal braces. Also the end of the poles sat in super strong plywood braced onto the uprights.

If you get what I mean. Good luck

There are some pics of mine in my project thread!

I cut a hole in the back of the seat with a circular hole cutter, you'll never know when I weld it back in!
