A mate of mine had a top quality grease gun but I can't remeber the name of the make for the life of me. Its not any of the obvious quality tool names like Snap-on, I think it may have been German. Apparently they are the Rolls Royce of grease guns and well known in the trade. Any ideas anyone?

Wanner are actually Swiss. I have not seen them advertised for many years, but they truly are the best.

What grease should be used?
And are air grease guns any good?
Sorry for the hijack.

They still make them - but much better to get one secondhand. Loads about as they never wear out. I just couldn't remember the name. Got one off ebay for less than a tenner yesterday.

HafMan,
For all nipples on a Mini, Castrol LM is the stuff. It happens to be cheap too. Garages do use air grease guns, and they work, but for a single Mini the tiny effort in doing it by hand is of no importance. It takes longer to clean the nipples than pump in the grease anyway.
If using a Wanner, about 6 to 10 strokes on each nipple is about right. At least every 6000 miles, preferably 2000, will make your radius arms, upper arms and ball joints last a very long time.
