i did comment on someone elses topic, but i thought i would make my own as i dont think its fair for me to ask for my own problems on his
with my weber 40 it will rev up to 4k without me touching the throttle :S and it will be very juddery unless I floor it. But I I force it down to 1K by brake with out the clutch it will stay there. I want to know if there is anything I can do till I get it on the rolling road next week.
There is also fuel dripping out of the trumpets why is this?
and i have also put a throttle linkage kit on it, and it opens and closes freely
i know i need it tuned as i bought it and just stuck it on
but i just wondered if there was anything wrong with it and its not just the jets..
Thanks for the help in advance! :)

Have you checked you idle mixture screws. Make sure these are set correctly.
Also what are your manifold seals like?? have you got the Misab type seal or the old plastic type with two seals either side??
There could be other things amiss here as well. Is the carb you have fitted new or second hand??
Is the float level set correctly. Closed it should be 8.5mm, open it should be 15.00mm. And a stroke of 6.5mm.
It may pay you to get the Weber Carburettors manual from Haynes. I used mine on a regular basis for servicing etc.

yes the seals are misab type seals, it is second hand. I have got a weber manual from 1976
i had a word with the guy who does the r.r's on my cars and he is said its due to over fuelling so i need to have a fuel pressure regulator, the jets as its not been jetter yet and the floats possibly. so all i well i think
thankyou again for the advice :)

I had other issues with my RS ie not enough fuel, i really needed an electric pump (Facet) and a pressure regulator plus electronic ignition but like all things money was tight so i made do. It worked but in the end i started to have other problems and reverted back to a rejetted 32/36 DGAV.
I missed those carbs and the noise was just unbelievable. That engine would go to 7000 rpm and sounded pure evil.
