So I'm going to roll and road it when it's back on the road. But the question was did I need the new needle? Or would it of been better to keep the original needle in when I installed it?

You need the new needle, or else it'll be running lean, but you need to adjust it enough to get it at least driveable to get you to a rolling road
Yeah it's driveable, it's quick when you put your foot down. So can easily get to a rolling road. Also the rolling road will set it up so it will pass emissions and tune it so it runs right yeah?

The rolling road will set it up for optimum power & performance, this won't necessarily mean that it will pass an MOT emissions test though, as they are too different things.

Ok thanks, I'll just have to turn down the fuel mixture when it has MOT :)

yeh you'll get annoyed with pulling the choke out every time you put your foot down
