Hi, ive just taken the valves out of my recently aquired 12G295 head to give everything a check. Please could someone tell me if this valve seat is knackered. If so, how much on average would a valve seat recut cost ?

This is after a light lapping

Thanks

Those marks look quite deep...I would get new seats cut if it were my head, New valve seats would cost between £90 - £120. but shop around. Im from the north of Scotland and everything is more expensive up here!!

That valve seat is awful. You need it properly recut. This may leave the valve quite heavily sunk though. The way around this is to go up a valve size allowing a decent seat to be cut, or have hardened inserts fitted allowing you to retain the standard valve size.

Have hardened seats fitted. You are then ok with unleaded. It is a fairly routine operation to most engine reconditioners, and should not be hideously expensive.
