I would definitely say so,
I installed on in my mini last month and have used it for all sorts of things :)
And they are easy enough to wire in

No.... because smoking is bad for you and your mini may get lung cancer, but the socket does come in handy for things like Sat Nav & mobile phone chargers I suppose!! :P

my car came with one and its very useful, until i found it that it was poorly wired into my radio and the loose connection was why it kept turning off

I have one descretely mounted wired from the fuse box with a 15 amp inline fuse. Use it for all sorts, satnav, phone charging, running inverter

Very useful, just wire it correctly

Taking a live feed from a spare terminal on the fuse box, or directly from the starter motor tend to be the popular choices. It also seems a common practice to take a feed from the stereo too, but this really should be avoided so as not to overload the circuit.

There wouldn't be much in a picture, all you need is to take a fused live from either a switched location ( somewhere on the fusebox that gives 12v when ign is on) or a permanent location (always gives 12v ) to the positive feed on the socket, and then connect a earth to a location on the shell.

You will have some math to do with regard to wire rating and fuse rating, need to make sure the wire can handle the amount of power being used for in the socket, and that if that power is exceeded then the fuse needs to blow before the wire gets close to melting / catching alight.

well, I can take some pictures tomorrow if you like?
an in-line fuse is always a good addition to keep it safe :proud:
But it is very easy to install

Going to install one myself as soon as it stops raining >:( just bought one off Ebay (thanks Stevede)
My wireing has been needing sorting out for a while now so steadily working through all the old bodge ups the previous owners have done,
thought id have a look at a button start lol took about 5 minutes just need to work out how to isolate the the feed wire through a switch to make it a little safer. ^_^
