Hi all
Having problems with my crankshaft end float. ive fitted brand new standard thrust washers and iam getting a raeding of 0.005". i was told i should be aiming for around 0.002-0.003". So i try to fit my 0.003 thrust washers but they wont fit with the crank they just get stuck and wont budge. The crank hasent been reground because it dident need a reground. So crank is standard. I wanted to know if 0.005" is ok or can i fit one side of the main bearing with the 0.003" thrust washer and the other side with a standard thrust washer. If not does anyone know any where else i could get a 1-2 thou thrust washers as i dont think mini spares do these sizes.
Thanks jock

If you have 0.005" float with standard thrusts both sides, you simply fit a +0.003" pair on one side which then reduces the float to 0.002" which is perfect. If you try to fit 0.003" to both , i.e. a total additional thickness of 0.006", you would end up with -0.001" which, of course, is not possible.

hi again just had a thought wouldent that push the crank to one side and cause one of the bearings to wear more because it wouldnt be centralised ?
