Twister is back home after having a replacement head fitted. it's powered by a 1293cc fast road spec engine. the oldie was cracked between cylinders 2 & 3. The head was polished and so were the inlet ports. Surprisingly the exhaust ports were not. As the crack was between the exhaust valves do you think this helped towards the failure? My line of thought is gases assisted to get in but not help to get out. The previous owner says it was built and run for approx 4000 miles and was fine when he took it out. I've done less than 100 miles since I bought the engine. Any views?

Just bad luck that it happened in your ownership. I do think it unlikely that gas flow would have caused the failure.

I guess there is one positive thing out off this - I never found out how much power I've lost as replacement isn't polished. What you've never had you don't miss.
