Hi chaps you will be hearing from me quiet abit over the nxt 3 years :)I've just bought a mini that has been painted with enamel paint my question is can I just sand and etch prime over this or will I have reaction problems further down the line when normal paint is used.
Thanks guys any advice more than appreciated.

I'm currently painting my mini with a roller and enamel type paint and ive been told that i cannot spray over this in the future. Rustoleum is the paint ive used if that helps.

etch primer would not be a good idea as it is acidic and is used for bear metal to etch in as the name implys so ontop of other paint it will most likely react and lift the underlying paint off the body

I've regularly sprayed etch primer onto exposed bare metal that's surrounded by existing paintwork, and I've never had any reaction problems where the etch has come into contact with/covered over the surrounding paint. That's always been with celly based paints though, it might be a different story with enamel based paint I suppose.

ye with the reaction i m only assuming from my knowledge of chemisty but as i sed be4 etch primer is designed for bare metal anyway so is the incorrect paint to use in this situation
