Hello

I'm making a few cosmetic changes to my Mini Mayfair from 1993 including putting bullet shaped door mirrors on instead of the standard. Has anyone had any experience of this? Is it an easy job?

Thanks

make sure you buy door mirrors not wing mirrors

stick a wing mirror on a door and they are useless

I have these on mine, sadly no longer available.

There is a new version with a more rounded mounting plinth, which Huddersfield Mini Spares sell.

The bullets don't give as good a view as the standard ones, due to the glass size, but if you are in the habit of glancing over your shoulder to look at the blind spot then it isn't a problem.

I fitted mine, and they were just a bit of a tight squeeze. Be careful how the mirors attach to the body. the ones I bought are held on from the inside by bolts (probably wing mirrors? Thanks Bungle) and I had to remove the door cards and the outside window rubber seal. Wind the window down, drill the holes whilst holding something down inside the door to protect the window. Then fiddle with a magnet on a spanner to position the bolts. Quite a mess around really. My originals just self tapped on with covers over them but make sure you check when you buy them. the only other thing is the nearside mirror can be difficult to position due to the low height of the door top. Good luck.
