Just bought a new house and it has a wickes alarm, I have the code but when I switch the trip switch power off the outside alarm sounds so can't carry out ant electrical work on the house!

Is there like a maintinance code button I cause to stop it from sounding

Thanks

Cant give any specifics of that alarm, but generally, the siren will have a battery back up in case of power failure, but so should the control panel so you can disable the alarm once the power has been cut, maybe check for a battery in the control panel?

Usually the external sounder shouldn't ring if mains power is taken off. Personally i'd see about getting the battery inside the control panel changed, but for the time being the bell should only ring for 15-20 minutes then time out if you take the mains off.

As for an engineer code - I don't have a clue! :shy:

I'll take a look at the battery, is it inside the box in my house or outside

most good systems have 2 batterys, one in case the siren is disconnected from the control panel etc, so you know the sirens battery is ok as it sounds when the power is off, so check the control panel for one

shot gun cured the last one that was ringing and wouldn't shut up. Silly buggers were on holiday and it started ringing at 2am the day they left
