I've got a few spots on my freshly painted shell where rust has started to form, only light surface colouring so not a serious concern, but I'd like to stop it now.
Am I alright to use a converter then a encapsulator and then brush over with some body coloured paint?
(Hoping to be able to get some off my painter so I can brush it onto the affected areas)
They are all out of sight so it won't be obvious and I'll do a neat job!
Any recommendations or thoughts?

I've used hammerite 'rust killer' which primes for you too, gives a nice finish and gets that rust :)

from experience these products are never a perminent fix. To truely get rid of rust, the effected area needs to be removed.....whether that involves cutting out and welding in fresh steel, or using one of those 'spot sand blaster' kits you can get from machinemart to blast out the rust. I tried a rust converter on a previous car and it eventually works back through so in my eyes they are a waste of time...........if a jobs worth doing, do it right the first time.

my advice would be to take it to bare metal and clean it up with sander or grinder until shiny painting over dirty metal is just asking for trouble. I treat it with Hammerite Ku Rust then a few coats of Hammerite Anti-Rust Primer.

Why is rust coming through on a freshly painted shell?

Most common reason is painting over dirty surfaces such as rusty metal or if you use a grinder or sander and don't wash away all the debris metal shavings can get mixed in with the paint and then rust in no time at all. Also painting on slightly damp/moist metal can lock in water.
