Hi, I currently have a 1978 Mini 1000 with the centre clock dash. It has a oil pressure pipe that comes from the block and connects to the oil pressure gauge.
Im soon to be swapping the A- series 998 for a Fast Road A+ 998 which has a oil pressure switch (electrical)

My question is can the oil pressure pipe simply be connected where the switch was. Are they the same thread size ?

Thanks

There is an adaptor which you can get from Mini Spares and which allows you to run both a gauge and a pressure warning light. It's a very good idea to have both as if the pressure failed you would be unlikely to notice it quickly enough with just a gauge in order to save the engine.

Thats a good idea. But would I have the wirring to connect the switch to the loom. The pressure light is connected to the loom but I have no idea where the other end goes.

If you have a pressure switch with a light already, then it's wired in. You just fit the oil pressure gauge as well. If you don't have a pressure light already, you take a connection from the ignition, run it to the light, then run anoother wire from the light to the switch. If the pressure drops below the pre-set pressure at the switch the light comes on.

Make sure you fit the uprated 22psi oil pressure switch. The standard one is useless
