Hey guys and girls

Welcome to my rebuild thread

I have had my mini for 4 years and here are a few photos of when i first brought the car of one of my friends.

My mini is affectionally known as my 2nd girlfriend as i spend as much if not more on her then any girl friend i have had.

Have already started to strip the car, have removed the standard original engine which is going to be replaced with a mk 2 cooper s engine that i have sourced locally.

Looks like a good project, what are your plans for it?

I'm planning to keep all the original bits got to sort body work out and am going to be fitting some 10" original mamba 6" wheels with 7.5" discs as well as having some cooper reverse rims, the mini will be nice with the mk 2 cooper s engine giving it a bit more grunt although the standard engine has got quite a bit of poke for a 998.

Have got one of my friends cleaning the engine at his workshop for me, Chris Northam of M&J Engineering.

Am planning to fit some 10" original mamba wheels with 7.5" brakes with the mk 2 cooper s, the engine is going to be slightly bored.

to update, this i have now started rebuilding the subframes, i brought a brand new heritage rear at Coombe on the 29th which i have decided to build up with a coil spring conversion from huddersfield spares and am also debating whether to put alloy rear arms on it.

I would love your thoughts on these as not sure if they are advisable for road use?? primary thoughts are weight saving.

So guys so more photos and a bit of a update on progress.
well it has slowed down a bit while i adjusted to my new job role at work.

But i can now say i have an extensive amount of heritage panels that will be going on the car in the next 2 weeks or so

Here are a few photos of them, my thanks really go to chris from south lakeland mini centre as they are a great team who offer genuine panels with free postage and a next day service, all my panels have come from these guys as they were loads of help.

Here is an update and also a question for some of you guys on gearboxes.
some of the new pieces that i have brought in the last few months.
So panels wise i have got now(all Genuine) :
both side rear quarter's
full boot floor
driver's flitch
driver's full sill inner and outer
both sides rear arches

Recently i ordered some KAD items:
radius arms
alloy front hub assemblies

I'm just debating whether to also order some rear alloy hubs as well, people's thoughts would be appreciated

Parts wise, i now also have some rear drums with mintex shoes, gaz shocks, full adjustable ride height cones, huddersfield coil spring conversion.
Will add a few photos as well

i have gone for standard, at the moment not hard but will see what they are like when the car is back on the road, are you going lightened parts as well?

As with everything i do "plans change" & this mini is no diffrent. I firstly decided (about a year ago) i wanted a mini that would rust as little as possible so i bought a fibreglass flip front & was planning on getting fibreglass doors,boot ect.. with stainless nuts & bolts all over & aliminium things to wouldnt rust and so on.

Now adays i still am using fibreglass boot(maybe) & bonnet but have just bought all steel front panels for originality & safety although i'll still be putting box section mild steel were brace bars would be.
