Hi all

Does anyone else on here have worries over the fuel line running too close to the exhaust manifold? (LCB)

I have re-routed the line directly up wards to try and get a little more space between them.

Also i have used a titanium wrapping over both the manifold and fuel line (what a pain that was)

to cut down on the heat down there.

But it still rings alarm bells with me everytime i look at it. Especially as it has that small rubber

connection to the pump

has anyone dealt with this problem any other way?

As long as you have 1-2 cm clearance between fuel line and manifolds, its ok.

Thanks

I guess there is a rush of air from underneath as you're driving aswell.

Also remember a spark is far more dangerous near fuel than simple heat from a manifold, so i wouldn't worry about it, unless its actually touching it or a rubber line is deforming from the heat.

I have fixed a little vehicle powder extinguisher in the passenger footwell for peace of mind though

Just becareful that the pipe cannot move around too much due to vibration and rapid cornering speeds lol.....too much slack in the hose could allow it to momentarily touch the manifold

yeah i think i've done all i can with re-routing, wrapping and the extinguisher.

When i was 18 it didn't bother me. but now with age and sensible thinking and all that!!

I just used some braided fuel pipe, it worried me too... Just be careful with heat wrap, (even though it's good stuff) but if your manifold isn't stainless then apparently condensation from constant heating and cooling can cause a big nasty hole to rust right through!

Stainless reacts badly when wrapped due to the extra heat.. maniflow will void their warranty if any kind of wrapping is used.
As for wrapping itself, i'd reccomend to use the proper thermotec stuff, they make also alternative materials that are less prone to cause corrosion.

Unless it is actually hard up against your manifold then there is nothing to worry about.
Vibrations causing it to 'momentarily touch' won't cause any problems either.

It's takes a VERY hot surface to ignite fuel. I've had the top pipe into te carb split and literally pour petrol onto the hot manifold, it just evaporates.

Its the vapour that ignites..
it needs a spark though.
