Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum... I'm also a new mini owner. I recently bought a 1997 mini twin point cooper. The car has started overheating, I have replaced the thermostat, flushed the system and replaced the tempurature sender. The rad is still working ok and the fan does seem to kick in.
This info aside my worst nightmare has happened.... The bottom of the plastic oil cap on the rocker cover seems to have melted onto the rocker. What do I do?? I'm absolutely freaking out cause I dont know how bad this is gonna be. I'm suspecting the head gasket is gone, so I'm gonna get it to a mini specialist that I've discovered but I'm not sure what they'll say about the plastic.
Guys any advice would be seriously appreciated.
And looking forward to getting into the mini community.

Just get a new cover
Knock the old one out, take the rocker cover off if you have too and put it back on,
And replace the rocker cover
I can't help you on the over heating tho

overheating, yeah seen that before get a new cap and clear the rockers off, then get the coolant system looked at, maybe waterpump, or the little tube from the thermostat housing is blocked, also a faulty cap will cause overheating, also check the tank for damage

The problem is the bottom of the cap didn't melt onto the rocker cover but on to the rocker itself. I'm gonna get a gasket and remove the cover and maybe attempt to clean it but I'm still unsure
