i've been in touch with david hollis from the british mini club to see if he would be interested in having a display of mini 1100 specials at minifest in uttoxeter in 2014 to celebrate the mini specials 35th birthday anniversary, david replied to my email and was really enthusiastic about it, he also said that he would do the promotion for it as well.

basically i need as many 1100 specials as possible so if you own (or know anyone that owns) a 1979/1980 mini 1100 special (as original looking as possible) then please get in touch, i know that its a long way off yet but it gives me plenty of time to organise the cars etc.

you would be surprised at how many people at the shows dont even know what a mini special is or what BL's intention was when they released it i 1979!!

i think that the mini special (or 20th anniversary edition as its otherwise known) deserves to be celebrated as it was basically the trend setter for all of the limited edition mini's that followed and it was the limited edition mini's that regained the interest in the mini in the late 1970's and early 1980's as sales had drastically slumped.

for those of you that dont know what one looks like then here's a pic of ours so if you see one driving about then hijack the owner and see if they want to display their car at the show...........

Your 1100special is looking stunning.........Ihave seen a mint one over here in Jersey an elderly man owns it will try and speak to him.....you never know he might want to make the trip over there................

I'm I'm love with your Mini ... Those standard wheels and everything standard is amazing, wish I could fit those tens wheels on mine.

the cars need to look original, that one has big revolution wheels, wrong arches and a load of other wrong things on it, its a nice car but i need original looking ones.......cheers anyway.

The 20th in 1979 was a great Mini Birthday Party and my first major Mini event!
Also the Mini 1100 Special was the best ever Limited Edition in my opinion

With the introduction of the Metro looming BL raided parts bins to put together what was meant to be a runout model for the Mini,it was only last minute decisions that kept the Mini going,sales declined in the 80s so specials became the norm.

thanks, its a far cry from what it was like when we first got it but its nearly there now, i could have sold the car twice when i took it to mitp santa pod, and that was just while i was parking it up when i first got there,
