Hello All
Mini Cooper 1.6 '56 Plate
I have had an intermittent problem with the rear wiper where it started stopping, then would start again a few minutes later. This went on for awhile and now it has just stopped altogether.
I am abit of a noob but I would assume this would be a good starting point
Open Passenger Footfall fuse box and fuse for wipers. Fuse F09 I believe
Then I would assume check the relay, am I right in thinking with the electrics on but the car not started when I switch on the rear wiper I should hear a click from the relay which I believe is located behind the passenger footwell fuse box ? Or is it actually in the fusebox next to the battery under the bonnet ?
Incidentally what are fuses R5 and R7 in that fusebox in the engine bay ?
I assume the next thing would be to check the motor - but where is located for the rear wiper ? in the boot somewhere ?
Sorry for the all questions - any help greatly appreciated
And any idea where you can buy relays for a mini from - a search on the net delivers nothing ???

Being a site aimed at the original classic mini, you might find limited help here, but somebody might be able to help.
I would imagine the wiper motor is in the boot/hatch 'door'. You will need to remove the trim on the inside of that panel to access the motor.
I used to have a problem on another car which sounds similar where as the rear wiper was intermittent and then stopped altogether. The problem was where the wires exit the bodyshell via a rubber tube and go into the hatch 'door'. The feed wire had broken where the boot was opened and closed. After inserting a new piece of wire joined inside each panel (rather than just joining the broken wire) it worked fine.
Regarding the relays, have you tried Mini Spares, Euro Car Parts or German,Swedish and French (GSF Car Parts)?
