Where do you measure a carb from to see what size it is? someone I know has a pair of carbs and he thinks they are 1.5" but not sure so how do they go about measuring to find out?

Remove carb from inlet manifold, and measure the diameter of the bore of the carb.

measure the inlet throat size. And the best way to do this is using a ruler!!!
