Hello I have just taken my Mini off the road I need to remove the rear subframe replace nearside sills and and rear subframe mounting panel at the same time I'd like to remove the engine and refurb! My question is how is the best way to do so I would also like to be able to work on the bottom of the car???

If your going to remove the front and rear sub-frames your best bet will be to take out the interior and all the glass then roll it on the opposite side you wish to work onto a single/double mattress. Obviously an old unused one on the way to the dump! lol
Also drain the fuel tank and remove along with the battery first, get a length of fuel hose to join up the outlet pipe with the breather/return on the tank to avoid the fumes leaking out......

You can disconnect the front subframe and still leave the engine in situ by lifting the body over the top.

Here's mine stripped in a few hours although all the work on this shell is above the sills....

You can mount on a spit - if the engine / gearbox is out (drain fuel tank as well)



or roll it onto the side on a mattress (door mirror removed & door handle padded)

prop it safely if you do

My advice - just do one thing at a time - or high risk of a 'failed project' post 6 months down the line............

It's going back on the road as its my only car lol and I refuse to sell it lol needs bits done but focusing on sills first as thats the major bit!!
