Hoping someone can help. i am currently broken down in Germany. the front wheel bearing went out. of course everything is closed but for the morning. does anyone know any common cars that share the front bearing with a mini? i am not sure how easy the search is going to be and am due back at the chunnel Friday night. thanks.

I believe you will find the Mini front wheel bearings are unique. The bearing diameters and widths themselves may seem to cross with those used on other cars and machinery. However, the bearings used on the Mini either include extended inner races OR a distance piece to go between the two bearings. That assembly is packaged as a matched bearing set to give exactly the right bearing width. You will not get that correct width if you use generic, non-Mini bearings. While the repair may seem to work, if the width is not exactly correct you can wear out the front hub assembly.

I have never seen a published value for that bearing width. In hindsight... it would be a good thing to know.
