Have you heard of these (click on the link) http://www.minispare...ls/14A7930.aspx where they an option in 1959/60's? They require two holes in the bottom of the door (one on each end) and a bit to attach the hose too in the bottom of the door around the hole...

Both my mk1's have them 64 and 65 but there were a lot of differences with the early 59 60 cars

Are your doors the original? Did the door come with the attachment to fit the hose to the bottom of the door over the hole?

1959 Doors:
The two photos (see link below & scroll down) show the 1959 type door in red along side the later normal type door.
Note the hole in the end of the door that acted as the drain for rain water. The later ones drained down 2 rubber tubes out of the bottom of the doors.
These changes to the later style of draining took place around May 1960.
The door tops are also markedly different but this difference is hidden under the window.

My current mk1 (63) has them, and my previous mk1 (62) had them. I think it was only the really early doors that didnt have them

It is just a short length of metal tube sticking up inside the door pocket drain hole (one each end behind the cardboard liner trim) over which the rubber drain tube (from the sliding window gutter) is a push fit.
