Talent is something that you cannot have an opinion on. It is a sign of skill, not your preference.

Asking 'The Beatles - What's all the fuss about?" is rather like asking 'Mozart - What's all the fuss about?" No other group of musicians have had the on-going effect those guys have had.
It's a pointless question and if someone can't perceive the level of raw talent and creativeness with both then they must be deaf. The legacy that the Beatles have left simply can't be fully identified. They influenced a generation of other musicians. Their music is now considered by many as 'modern classical' and it will live on way past the time when the current modern electroinically generated stuff has been long forgotten. Their compositions have been recorded by other 'greats' in large numbers.
If someone doesn't like it, then simply don't listen. But don't criticise the creative genius behind it. True, there were and are better singers and instrumentalists than those 4 guys, but how many can create music which will still be appreciated 100 years from now?

And, the Beatles were all great Mini enthusiasts.

I understand what your saying. However I can have an opinion wether the Beatles had talent or not. Unless somebody defines who does and does not have talent and proves it as fact then it will always be an opinion of the listener.

But that isn't so much an opinion of talent as an opinion of preference.

I think we should agree to disagree as this could go on for a long time. If nothing else this was a good debate.

Are you, in all seriousness, saying that the Beatles had no talent?
Undoubtedly the most successful and influential group of musicians of the 20th centuary had no talent? Really?
You might not like their music, that's just a personal thing. But, for example, to listen to Dame Shirley Bassey singing 'Something' and then say that the composers had no talent would be a strange thing to do.
Then one might guess that you had not listened to other artists singing their music. They were not just a 'pop-group', in the way that the Monkees or the Beach Boys were, they were writers and composers, they were basic innovators, they led a modern music revolution. Others just followed.
No talent, oh, really!

I think this topic should be locked as its just becoming one big argument.

No it should stay open, but some people should keep quiet. We're all entitled to our own opinions, and we're all aloud to voice them.. How can an opinion be right or wrong?

Firefox, please stop this.

Everything you're saying is YOUR opinion, but who is telling you that your opinion means nothing, and that you're wrong?!- nobody is.

Personally I like 90's music and not that keen on the beetles. I think they have talent, but they just aren't my kind of thing...

You must be making minielliot feel like utter s**t, and he doesn't deserve it.

I understand all the 'fuss' around the Beatles, although personally I wouldn't use the word fuss as I feel it somewhat trivialises their significance (whether or not you like them is irrelevant when looking at their significance).

I completely agree with what you are saying. I am a massive Beatles fan but understand that other people have different tastes and preferences. I feel that it must be said that there is nothing wrong with a debate if it is civil and doesn't attack people or their views, just argues a point.
