I've got a pic but I've left it on my camera at home, d'oh!
On the front passenger seat, where the two front brackets bolt to the cross member, one of the holes you put a bolt in to is literally just a hole. There should be a nut there but it doesn't exist. According to the bloke who did all my welding they're called captive nuts and just push in to place? I can't find anything to replace them on minispares etc...

The nearest you will find is a rivnut, as from what I can gather the captive ones are put in place during production.

Bugger
I'll get a pic up tomorrow, is it an MOT failure?

You can drill a larger hole on the opposite side enough to get a 3/8 drive socket through and put a nut and bolt in instead.

MOT fail yes is they check the seat and find it moves.

If you can weld then get a stiff nut of the same size as the seat mount and weld that into the hole.

I can't weld, looks like I'll have to do the drill a hole + bolt through the back method. £10 says I lose the bolt inside the cross member...

Blue tack in the socket or some PTFE plumbers tape will hold it in until you've got it tight!

I have a piece of studding right through the crossmember for one of mine.

1/4" UNF
If you are fitting a new nut and bolt, M6 may be ok, but make sure it is Grade 8.8, not cheap mild steel, as these bolts are not very big and do have to handle a fair load.
Depending on the size of the hole in the crossmember, it may be possible to fit a Rivnut, which is a very easy job with the correct tool, but unless the hole is exactly the right size, the crossmember and seat bracket would need to be redrilled to the next size up.
