heya all just a quick 1. whilst looking through several sites ive noticed all the 8.4 vented conversions have the thread for the swivel pins on the hub so the pins screw on to that, where as on mini the threaded swivel pin screws into the hun. are you folowing me?!
my hubs were sold as metro turbo hubs so what hubs have i actually got, as they are differnet to the hubs on the mini sites. if they are right where can i get these alternative swivel pins from?

thanks
dean

not following you exactly, but, when people go on about metro hubs for the vented brake conversion, what they mean is the drive flange. the hub/upright you use should still be the mini one. I guess you're looking at a metro one all confused?

Metro hubs have a ready shimmed ball joint that screws into the hub as a complete assembly, the ball joint is one complete ready to fit assembly. The Mini hubs require the ball joints to be assembled onto the hub in parts and shimmed accordingly, the ball joints come in a kit of parts. Metro hubs need slightly longer bottom arms as the geometry is slightly different than that of the Mini hubs.

Sounds to me like you have Metro hubs, don't use them they mess the suspension travel up completely.

This is a Mini swivel hub, the only different one ever fitted to Minis is the earlier drum braked type which is exactly the same but doesn't have the caliper lugs and has more holes in it. You can see from this that the swivel is retained by a large cup which screws onto the boss on the end of the hub and as Mini Sprocket says must be assembled in place.

If you have fully adjustable suspension, is it not possible to compensate for the differences with the Metro hub?

Yes you can but a very expensive way of fixing a problem which you don't actually need to start with.

True, but if your going to have fully adjustable suspension anyway, and you want vented brakes, or you can get a cheap set of Metro discs with hubs...

If you have adjustable suspension, you can just about try to get away with using metro hubs, but that'll only really work if you use Metro inset wheels, since any Mini-offset wheels (i.e. great big sticky out ones), will make the scrub radius and bump steer so severe that the car will be dangerous to drive on a bumpy road, and have a crazy amount of effort needed to turn wheels while parking.
