Hope you folks can help.
Car is a 1275 Carb (1991) with electronic ignition. I recently fitted a (new) modified head and 1.5 rockers. On the test run it died at a junction (no splutter or warning) and only restarted when cooled. It had never cut out before.
I suspected a coil problem and changed that.
I had it set up yesterday by a local mini friendly garage. It needs a bit of fine tuning on the rolling road but the timing's good and fuelling is there or thereabouts and it goes well.
I ran it from cold last night. Once warmed (choke off and idle steady @950 ish) it cut out as above. It restarted immediately and drove well afterwards without fault.
It did the same this morning.
I would say that the cutting out was a few minutes into the journey. On both occasions the car sat happily at lights etc before suddenly giving up a bit later.
The plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm are all new so no issues there.
The only other thing of relevance is that it always starts from cold but when warm can struggle, almost as if the battery is flat. That may be a red herring but I don't know.
I would appreciate on tips on what I should be looking at. cheers.

It cut out again tonight on the way home tonight!
Just driving along and cut out and wouldn't start.
Breakdown man got it going again with a squirt of brake cleaner on the air intake.
Clearly this a fuelling issue. I can't risk this cutting out on the way to the garage so any pointers please would be appreciated.

check the bottom of the carb float chamber as it may be blocked with a rusty dust from the fuel tank.
Same happened to me on a hundred mile trip rac came out we changed points & condensor but no luck as it just stalled a short time later.

correct if you can get your hands on some carb cleaner it works a dream in and outside the carb
.
Also to stop the problem happening again get a in-line fuel filter.
