Getting my 69 mini (mg metro engine hiff44 ) going again last week has not been run for about 3 years replaced fuel tank (rusty, bad fuel had turned in to sticky mess) checked oil, water ok

Got it going ok
only problem I have so far is that I have fuel coming out of the overflow so i have left it a week hoping new fuel would dessolve any sticky old fuel in carb/float chamber

If it still overflows what should I do
Remove carb strip and clean or just float chamber
What happens if there is not enough oil in piston damper

Thanks for any help

clean the float chamber, make sure the damper moves freely and lands with a clunk
also check oil damper level , no oil will make engine flutter and run like crap
