As the title says, the car is a 1989 Mini Thirty Automatic (998cc, HS4 carb). I bought the car just under a year ago from a Hyundai/Seat garage, that had taken the car as a p/x. The owner before me was an older lady, and before her, her husband. The first owner is unknown to me and has not left a service history, this only goes back to 1999. Nonetheless it is a very comprehensive (and frankly, anything done before 1999 would be largely irrelevant) history, and proves the car's 45000 (and counting) miles. It is taxed until December.
The car is in excellent mechanical condition. The car had a CV boot and subframe mount replaced for it's MOT (May 2013), and had a new set of front tyres (Falkens) at the same time. The car also has also had the following replaced in the last year: Bump stops (front), Rubber cones (front), Distributor cap + Condensor + Points + Rotor arm, Oil filter, O/S Engine mount, Radiator + tubes + thermostat + cap. The car has no outstanding MOT advisories. The engine runs and pulls well, breezed through exhaust tests (no pun intended) and everything is generally how you would expect.
The bodywork is good, but not exceptional. The drivers foot-well was welded in March, along with a replacement 'A' panel (genuine panel). The paintwork on this panel and the adjacent door is not perfect (see pictures). The car also has a dent in the boot, and in the rear chrome bumper. Two rust spots remain on the car; they are both minor surface rust areas, one under the nearside quarter-light and the other in the centre of the scuttle under the windscreen. They don't need immediate attention, but it is best to be honest. The car still wears her original minilite reproductions - they look good, but have all been curbed to the amount you'd expect after 23 years.
The interior is all original, and a lovely half leather one too. There are no tears in the seats or headlining, overall it is a fantastic interior. The car currently has two new speakers under the rear seats (hidden by 'stealth' kickboard) and a modern CD/AUX/Radio. These can be included with the car, or the factory set swapped back in.
It's worth saying this is a rare model, not only is it one of 1000 black Thirties (3000 total), it is one of 100 automatic models. With some rough maths, that means it is one of approx. 33 auto black 30s (and who knows how many survive). I have seen freshly restored black 30s with more miles than this going for over 4,000 - in fact one is advertised at such a price in Classic Car Weekly right now.
*EDIT* I need this car to go now, so reduced price to £2000 ono. Would p/x for good condition 1500/1850 Dolomite, Ford Puma 1.4 or E30 BMW 316.
