For the past couple of days, I've had an exhaust blowing sound coming from literally the air filter, I've run my hands down the manifold to see if there are any holes and from what I can tell there aren't any... Would anything cause that sort of noise to come from the air filter? And it is only when you accelerate...

I'll recheck the exhaust in a few days when I take the head off, just don't want to have to do it twice because it's a pain...

I had a similar noise from a blown head gasket. I could hear it coming through the carb, got louder the higher the revs.

I take plugs out see what condition there in, also check rad water and oil to check for oil/water contamination. will help to diagnose if it has blown. Also compression tester would help as well!

Plugs look ok, no water in oil, the reason for taking the head off is to check the gasket as I'm losing water, but I haven't got my gasket through yet... I really didn't want it to be that...

Yeah, it is a bit of a bugger if they do go. I had mine go two weeks ago, changed he gasket and it was fine. Then it started p*ssing water out the front, because I didn't have it skimmed. had to do the whole thing again the next week.

Its fine now, prlly wont be as bad as that tho... :D

But as fixes go, its not difficult to do at all. If you've got the parts and tools (sockets, deep and normal, and torque wrench) you can do it in an afternoon.

Also it would be a good idea to get a new exhaust gasket as well seen as you going to disconnect all that, I had a couple of motorfactors around where I live so its pretty easy to get those parts.

My problem will be if the head needs skimming... I really hope it doesn't...
