i noticed my carby dashpot when i look inside up at the top has got fracture cracks in it

near where its reinforced any ideas and should i change it

probably casting marks??

Dont change the dashpot if you dont have the matching piston, or it will never work..
As above, I dont think the marks are fatigue cracks, just casting marks.

Take a picture so we can see. Wouldn't be able to say definitely without seeing it anyway.

Dashpot and piston are a matched pair and they wear out together, yes the HIF castings are a lot better than the old HS castings, so different assemblies could probably match in most cases.
But its always better to advise that swapping dashpots around without retaining the matched piston is not a correct procedure as you risk of not having a good seal between piston and dashpot. And again, if aint broke, dont fix it..
