What options are there for 5 speed gearboxes on 1275 SPIs?

Very expensive ones. Look at KAD and Minispares, but expect to pay £2k minimum. Personally I'd spend the £2k on a car with 5 gears!

I'd spend a lot less and get the final drive changed....

A Jack Knight box is like this:
1--3--5

2--4--R

I think a KAD box like this is:
1--3--5

---2--4--R

It's worth noting that the KAD box is fully straight cut so would be pretty loud. I'd imagine you'd get bored of it fairly quick for road use.

KAD 5 speed dog box with dog leg first

  2 4

+-+-+-+

1 3 5 R

Also note that a KAD 5 speed still has a 1:1 5th gear and not an overdrive...
