Basically just Got my mini back on the road
Having Few issues with Fueling. It is booked into Peter Baldwin but basicly It needs tweaking so I can get it down to him. It was running ok but a tad ritch when I had it on the road a few months ago.
I've got a 998 auto. Electric ignition module , stage 1 kit. With cone filter AAU needle & mini spares dash pot oil. The engine itself is in top condition having only covered 17,000 miles.
The issues I'm having is it will start firs time but struggles to pull away with any load like a missfire, once at about 30 mph it runs very smooth but lacks power, if i pull the choke out it runs excellent very responsive & no misfires. Obviously this is not safe being an auto it just shoots off. Then if I leave the car on idle when warm with the choke off. For about 15 mins The fuel over flow starts to drip then gradually drips faster until I either turn it off , rev or drive it
Also when the engine is running it smells incredibly ritch to me. Bit this is where I'm stumped as to why it runs better on choke ?

Any help greatly apriciated

At first, make sure the needle valve in the float chamber is working ok and its not sticking casing overfuelling.
Swap the AAU needle for an AAA needle, set mixture at idle and advance ingition timing to the point it starts pinking under load, then retard it a couple of degrees.
Take it to Baldwin for a RR tune up ASAP.
