Hi,

Quick question (of many to come I'm sure), what lengths of fuel pipe would I need to upgrade my 1979 Mini LE (998 engine) to braided?

I've been looking on minispares as I've sprung a leak. I've ordered a length of rubber hose for now but I'd like to upgrade the whole line to braided.Minispares sell lengths of 2.5", 5", 7.5", 10" etc. Does anyone happen to know the standard layout.

I will get under the car at some point and just measure if need be but I have no means of getting under at the moment and would like to order since it takes a while for parts to get here.

Apologies if this has been discussed before, i couldn't find it in my search.

Also, what do people recommend for cleaning out the fuel tank? I'm figuring I'll just take it out and try and rinse it with clean petrol, but is there a better way? I'm going to install a new fuel filter too as the fuel coming out looks pretty brown.

Thanks,
Liam

be cheaper n easier to buy a roll of braided hose n cut it to size. u can get ends to tidy up the cut edges.

Ahh, that sounds like a good idea, i didn't realise you could do that. Thought it was made to fit.

Remember that it is illegal, and MOT failure if spotted, to use anything but proper fuel hose, which carries certain markings at intervals along its length. Braided hose may well be better, but is sometimes not legal.

you can get LEGAL braided fuel hose, we buy it in at work and the pipe place (similar to pirtek) sell it around the corner. all the motorsport type shops sell it too, usually by the meter and you can buy ends to finish them off.

Sorry if my original post indicated any old hose, it should be fuel spec hose.
