Me too. This looks great. Mabey you could do some other designs ?
Obviously if you did start making more you would have a large amount of buyers all ready waiting.

Good luck

Hi all
Thanks for the comments ,there does seem to be a demand for these.
It all started the other week when I cleaned out my garage,I found some off cuts of copper pipe and a load of fittings .I had a spare afternoon and started messing about with it. Now I know copper pipe is not strong enough but it is a "prototype" and copper is easy to cut and bend. To be honest it is alot stronger than I thought it would be and is only for show as I don't intend to carry anything on it.

That's really brilliant, have been thinking about getting one myself but not much luck in finding one.

Just remember if you do decide to sell them to register as a trader please ;)

The problem is that the potential sales volume is low. Most people nowadays have access to a bigger vehicle for moving bulky items that won't go inside a Mini and no-one would really want a roof rack unless they needed one as they ruin fuel consumption and make a lot of wind noise.
When I used one because I only had a Mini I used to fit it only when needed and take it off as soon as possible. It was very useful though back then.

I've often said that a more budget priced version of the works style roof rack is needed, and that it would probably be really popular if it were to be priced at under the £100 mark. But I also agree with others here, in that it would need to be more contoured (like the one pictured below) in order to sell. I suppose the other issue might be that when you try making it out of tubular steel as opposed to copper pipe, you are going to need to invest in a pipe bender, as you won't be able to bend it by hand with a bending spring like you can with copper pipe. :(

Thanks for the positive comments. Don't think I'll be going into production as once materials have been purchased and labour costs
added , I think the costings would not make it worth while , but all the nice feedback is appreciated.

Good looking roof rack mate, things like this give me ideas, which might not turn out nearly half as well as your brilliant roof rack!? ;D
