I fancy a set of Mk2 light clusters but - I have sneaky suspicion that something may be a rye under my current Mk3 lights after a cheap, half hearted and half arsed spray job by the space cowboy outfit of painters.

This being said I have been told that the mk2 and the mk3 are the same size, i am not sure about this. surely the mk3 are longer?

Anyway, I though about buying a tin of the boy racer favorite light tinting spray, and spraying the orange and 'white' section of the clusters a deep red. ( and change to colored bulbs)

Anyone done this?

The MK3 lights are exactly the same as MK2 light. No differece really.
The slightly taller light (with built-in reversing light) are MK4 on. And thats what you have on your mini.
Now fitting MK2 lights are just bolt-on because mounting point on the shell are the same on all MK2 on minis, mind you MK2 light have no reverse light, so, you'll probably (i dont know swedish law) need to fit an extra reversing lamp.
You can spray the lenses, but sprayed lenses + coloured bulbs = no visibility at all. Theres a chance that spraying white lenses could still work.
I wouldnt do that on cloured lenses, just for safety issues.

Considered this myself, even bought a set of MK2/MK3 to do it with as Ive seen it done and must admit I thought it looked really really neat, in the end I didnt for the reasons that jadee mentioned ie the legality of the reversing light etc, and secondly, didnt have the bottle to ruin a good set of MK2 lights as they are getting harder and harder and more expensive to source.....HOWEVER if you DO do it post a few fotos and may join ya n the dark side...lol

Your right I have Mk4 clusters. I didn't think the tinting spray was that bad, I give it a miss then as i definitely dont want to hinder the visibility of the lamps anymore than they are
