wasn't sure where to post this so put it here?

Hi guys, im gonna be roller painting my car with rustoleum next week as a very cheap alternative to spraying to keep the rust at bay, and so she's in all the same colour (as apposed to looking like Elmer the elephant) like this: >_<

after doing a little bit of looking around, iv'e decided that Rustoleum Combi-colour be the best paint

Now on their website, it lists a few colours. and i am somewhat still undecided about the colour i want her to be.

so if anyone has painted their car with rustoleum, could you please stick up a pic or 2 so i can base my judgement of what i think the best option would be, as i imagine that the little computer created thumbnail of the colour is a wee bit inaccurate.

thanks guys

call into your local paint shop and ask for a RAL colour chart

and to confuse things more avenue coatings will mix rustoleum to any car colour chart

yeah i popped into the bodyshop i used to work at and had a look but couldnt really get the idea of what they would look like on a car.
oh really? so if i wanted an old bmc clour, for example, they could mix it up?

What colour mini are you after?

Another cheap option (inc custom mixing to a RAL) is dulux gloss (have a look on the roller painting hamerite thread on here).

thats brilliant cheers, its a toss up between grey (like yours), blue (like island blue) or OEW.
one of the reasons for me choosing the Rustoleum was that it didnt need primer. i imagine with dulux gloss i would?

as its just gonna be a temp paint job to keep the rust at bay im not planning on doing a vast amount of prepping but want it to look atleast alright.
so would you advise to keep away from the blue if i dont want people telling me where every little ripple or dent is?

If its a temp paint job, then I'd not go for dulux as I'm not sure how well it would be overpainted. Other things (when choosing the colour) is to think about how well it covers (espec as your not planning to prime it). Mine has only had 2 coats and that was over a mix of satin black and radaint red. My mate has rollered his in John Deer green, that took 3 or 4 coats, and the yellow roof took even more (both over a sanded back light blue).

For cheapness, and you use their off the shelf colours, the white will be a lot colder than OEW.

have a butchers here for good examples of what covers well and looks like on a full sized car
