I know it can be done, not sure if any mods are needed tho.

Yeah, I have seen them fit, so it would be a case of buying some, then making a frame for it to sit on, which bolts to the original mini seat mounts, and the seats mounts, I think the drivers seat needs to be adjustable for MOT reasons,

Do the back seats just fit in? I heard someone say that?

I'd doubt it, but I don't know, you'd have to try.

I highly doubt it too, i dont know if you could get the back seats in at all, just reupholster the originals to match would be easier

I upgraded the seats in my New MINI to a pair of secondhand 'sport seats' in part leather from a 2003 MCS, from memory the seats plus sliders/runners bolt straight to the raised floorpan with 4 bolts into captive nuts on the MINI, so I guess you would need to mount on a fixed subframe or floor brackets in a classic Mini. New MINI seats tilt and slide forward for rear access so the subframe/runners can remain bolted to the floor with no need to tilt complete seat.
Rear seats base cushion is shaped and the backs fold down.......not sure if they fit a classic easily.
For used seats try ebay or the MINI specialist breakers below (you need the 'Sport' Recaro style seats which are optional on MINI Cooper and One but fitted as standard on all the MCS I think and available in part leather and full leather options):

Thanks for the help, if the deal I have at the moment falls through then I will consider this. :))

I had some fitted, then removed them... the runners and base are too big to fit behind the box section, thus I fitted them on top. The seats are then too tall - it felt like driving a babys high chair. I slung some recaros from an XR3i / turbo in there and they're great.

I'd be wary of seats from a "modern" car as a lot have air bags fitted.
