hi there, lovely electrical question!...............
just about finished restoring a 1773 mini mk3. im having problems with the dim/dip part of the headlights. i have sidelights, and dipped lights. when i switch to high beam the high beam light on the dash works but everything goes out other than the sides..... follow?
also nothing happens when you pull the stalk to flash.......
i thought that it could be the dim/dip relay but do you think i can find the bloody thing!!, where abouts is it, i thought under the dash on the drivers side. thats where it should be i assume..........
also, the fuse, inline, its in the engine bay on the fire wall, passanger side yes?
its a two fuse fusebox and these are ok, everything else works any ideas?
Cheers Rob

So this 1773 Mini..........
Is it 1973, 83, or 93? It makes a difference in the solutions here!
The headlight wiring between those years is quite different!

right then. 1973, you have no relay!. So my "guess" is:
a: Fuse
b: wiring/connectors (need tracing, checking, cleaning and possibly replacing)
c: stalk switch (needs checking, cleaning and possibly replacing.
Yes, the fusebox is in the engine bay (assuming things are standard).

Yup, Dim-dip system is '88 on only.
Probably the high beam bullet connector under the slam panel. There's no fuses at all in the headlamp system before about '96 so it's either wiring or switches. Sounds like the high beam filaments just aren't connected by what's happening so it's either two blown high beam filaments or the bullet connector, or possibly the high beam terminal in the stalk switch connector. Can't really be much else other than a break in the cable. High beams is blue/white.
