I will be 17 in December & will be finally driving my 1988 Austin Mini Designer. Wheres the best place to go for insurance & what are some things to say to get the premium down? I.e adding people on etc.

Take a look in the insurance section on this forum, there's loads of information, advice and peoples's experiences on there. One of the most important is to actually ring the companies as many won't quote to insure a 17 year old online.

Hi,

I am 18 and have been looking at insurance and how to get it lowest since before i turned 17 and im afraid because of your age, its not pretty. my average quote was £3500 but for my mini my best quote i have found so far is £1900.

These are the things i suggest
  • Add both parents
  • Keep it on a driveway or garage
  • Keep the annual mileage under 10000
  • As little modification as possible, they really ramp it up for the slightest thing
  • Go fully comp
  • Don't drive at peak times or late night at weekends
  • shop about, get companies to price beat others
I think that's it, will let you know if i think of anything else
