I race a mini in the mini seven championship, we use a non servo master cylinder with 7.5 cooper s callipers and disks. Fresh brake fluid, every thing bled well, wheel bearing and ball joints/swivels checked and the right suspension setup makes a difference too. This setup with right pad for the application should be more than sufficient for all most all road and track day minis. We use carbon metallic pads, for road some thing like ebc black or green stuff pads might be a good choice.

if you used a later split brake setup with the compensator on the front bulkhead with a tandem 3 master cylinder i think you would go through the screen the brakes would be that good on s calipers.lol

Personally I like a servo, but some of my friends rally with the 7.5 discs and 'S' calipers fitted with carbon-metallic pads. I tried that, but the pedal pressure takes a bit of getting used to, especially in the wet. The tandem vertical master cylinder is the one they use.

Well I will be running this set up in a 1965 sliding window mini, with old style tin master cylinder and single line.

It will be the cooper spec tin master cylinder.

From the answer so far I still need to confirm... Are cooper 7.5 caliper 2 or 4 pot?

2 pot. If you want 4 pots on S discs you'd have to use aftermarket calipers from Minispares, MiniSport etc. I don't think you'd see a lot of difference in performance.
